Just over half of the fruit for this wine is selected from D block, an area specifically set aside for making rosé. The grapes are fermented at low temperatures to retain the freshness and delicate fragrance, characteristics that are typical of Pinot Noir from the Pipers River area. A small portion of saignée from the production of the Delamere Pinot Noir is added to the blend to create a fragrant and complex dry rosé.
The 2017 Delamere Rosé shows intense red fruit aromatics on the nose. Strawberry, red currant, cranberry and raspberry follow through on to the palate along with some delicate floral flavours and a hint of savouriness on the finish. Crisp and dry at the end this is an excellent reflection of the potential for premium quality rosé in Pipers River.
